Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
?Knowledge of design principles and fundamentals of architecture of databases.
?Responsible for designing / install databases from an infrastructure point of view, managing technical user access, and implementing backup and recovery procedures, high availability functionalities .
?Ensure the system`s reliability, security, and performance, providing expert support and troubleshooting.
?Provides technical support for the study and implementation phases of complex regional projects.
?Provides technical support for projects and manages MSP delivery.
?Should strive to constantly improve the operational activities for faster delivery, better performance and stability for the systems within the scope.
?Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and installation guides.
?Participate in incident, change, and problem management processes as per ITIL standards.
?Collaborate with architects, developers, and infrastructure teams to support deployments and integrations.
? Automate installation, configuration, and operational tasks.
?Vendor management and reporting activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
?6–10 years of hands-on experience in MSSQL, PostgreSQL and MySQL DBA.
?For MS SQL DBA: Experience in Mirroring, Clustering, Log shipping, HADR activities and Always ON is preferred.
?Maintenance & Health: Manage SQL Server instances (2016–2022), perform routine patching, index maintenance, and database consistency checks (DBCC).
?Performance Tuning: Monitor system health, diagnose deadlocks/blocking, and optimize slow queries, indexes, and execution plans using DMVs and Query Store.
?HA/DR & Backups: Configure and manage Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and automated Backup/Restore strategies to meet RTO/RPO targets.
?Security & Auditing: Implement role-based access control, manage logins, apply TDE encryption, and enforce security compliance policies.
?Automation: Write PowerShell and T-SQL scripts to automate operational tasks, deployments, and health checks.
?Provide deep performance analysis and recommendations.
?Experience in troubleshooting complex issues and conducting root cause analysis.
?Knowledge on scripting (e.g., Shell, Python, Ansible) for automation and configuration.
?Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
?Mandatory knowledge on AWS/GCP infrastructure mainly regarding RDS databases.
?Knowledge in DB licence management.
?Added advantage for PostgreSQL, My SQL, Experience in DB2 database administration with in-depth knowledge of DB2 database architecture.
